Highlighting OPS – CART Across the Nation

January 20, 2023

In September 2022, the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) Missing Persons / Human Trafficking Unit (MP/HT) began utilizing the “National Law Enforcement and Community Policing Integrated Network” (OPS Network) to manage the New Jersey “Child Abduction Response Team” (CART) program, as well as all 21 county CART programs. Each of New Jersey’s 21 county CART’s are run out of each respective NJ County Prosecutor’s Office, with statewide oversight managed by the NJSP MP/HT Unit. Utilizing the OPS Network, New Jersey’s statewide CART program is now working together on one unified platform, allowing numerous officers, troopers, and detectives from various agencies to function as one team, on the secure law enforcement only OPS Network.

In January of 2023, OPS team members had the honor of being invited to present the OPS CART process to numerous other state agencies, from across the nation, who currently work with the “National Center for Missing and Exploited Children” (NCMEC). The hour-long CART overview highlighted the many features of the OPS Network and the CART platform and how law enforcement is utilizing OPS to work as one. This presentation also showed state representatives how the CART platform has been setup to expand across the nation, ultimately allowing all 50 states to work missing child cases together instantly via the “National Law Enforcement and Community Policing Integrated Network”.
